KNOTTED - The furniture series inspired by mathematical computation.

Project Background
Knots can be aesthetic decorations formed with only a few threads. Knots can be meaningful, representing time and memory as used by our ancestors. Knots can be practical, becoming connection woven into our everyday life. Knots are ubiquitous. At the core of every knot, however, is pure mathematics.

Design Concept
KNOTTED aims to demonstrate the beauty of mathematics. It reveals the elegance and aesthetics inside algorithms. By incorporating the forms and shapes produced by mathematical equations in Knot Theory and Seifert Surface, extraordinary pieces are created that cross the boundary between furniture and sculpture. Knotted introduces a new combination of mathematics and furniture making.

                                         

Footwear Design

This project require us to study the DNA of a brand and then to develop a shoe collection for the brand.
I choose the brand Gareth Pugh. I think "mysterious", "segmented" and "layered" can describe the DNA of Gareth Pugh. And I also think the exoskeleton of insects match well with these DNAs, so I use these elements as my concept and inspiration of my collection. i also use the images of milky way to be one of the material in my design to enhance the feeling of mysterious.

SWIFTCHIC, paper clutches

This is a project under the title of "Design Direct"
It required us to develop a online business.
I worked with Iris Chan for this project.
We need to develop our own brand, products, websites and the networking.

Our brand is called "SWIFTCHIC".
The website is http://www.swiftchic.com.
We aimed to provide fashion accessories in fast speed and with creative ideas.
Our first launch product is paper clutch.
We have 2 collections in total.


Collection 1: SAVAGE
People are crazy for the fur of animals. Have you ever thought of the animals being killed for it? This collection reminds you the blood and flesh under the animals fur. We love nature, we love animals. You can own this collection with beautiful animal fur prints with killing any of them!

 

Collection 2: Naked

People always have secrets. But somehow they are not necessarily hidden. The collection reveals they secrecy and desires deep down in your mind. Do you find your secret in the collection?

A Timeless Piece

"Furniture Design"

This project required us to make a dinning chair by using a 8' X 4'  plywood.

I worked with my group-mate Kam Ng for this project.

We aimed to make a chair is simple, elegant and timeless.

The Therian Collection : 3 pieces fashion accessories

The collection includes 3 different piece; a glasses, a tie and a bow tie.

I was inspired by the male animal features to represent the uprising female power nowadays.

MINDCAGE, A rethink of freedom

A landmark design project for Southern District Literary Trail.

The landmark is about the philosophy of Mr. Cai Yuanpei about freedom and introspection.

I want the passengers can rethink the right of freedom when they see and walk through my design.

Tree Studio, Artist's tree perch studio kit

The project was under the topic of "Design for Leisure".

The kit provides the users a platform on the trees to stay a little longer when they doing tree climbing.

They can also use the drawing tools that specially design to enjoy a different drawing experience on the top of the trees.
